Our Deepest Fear

19/8/2015

This is a poem many of you will recognise, and is certainly timely for every person stepping up to realise their dreams. That's when the inner critics and resistances start to come to the surface. Treasure the opportunity, pay attention to what comes up for you, as this space that opens up holds the key to great transformation.

The poem was written by Marianne Williamson and first published in "A Return to Live: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles" (1992).

Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other

people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.

—Marianne Williamson

We, Women of Courage

16/8/2015

2 July, 2015 provided an opportunity for the women who make up this community to share their visions for a better world for all; to be real about the challenges and joys; and to be a stand for others in doing the same. It was a moving and inspiring evening - so much so that we forgot to take photographs!

Follow Your Heart

The 'Follow Your Heart' evening from Women Howling at the Moon: what an extraordinary gathering. Many thanks to our magnificent and inspiring guest Tove Vine for setting the scene with her moving story of stepping out from the expected path and following her dream - for herself, and for all children who live in poverty.
Wow is the descriptor that comes to mind as the hallmark of this community, and again it was evident in spades. I refer to the courageous authenticity of shared conversations, and the treasures of connectedness and inspiration that each woman was able to experience and take away with her, for her own life. I feel goosebumpy, thinking about it.

The key points noted by the group:
  • Stay connected with your dream, even if it's sitting in the cupboard for a while. (And don't feel that it's shameful to have chosen another priority for now.)
  • Let go the belief that it's too late. It is never too late to liberate your dream and transform your life.
  • Write down your goals. Whatever the game, it helps to know what you're aiming for, where the goalposts are! Write, draw, film, talk about them, take them on outings, introduce them to friends. Do that and they will happen.
  • Become aware of and let go the beliefs you're hauling around that don't serve you.
  • Know that you do not need to be all, or do all!
  • Move into easy flow mode towards your dream. Start small. training just one 'unstoppability muscle' at a time! Make it fun, and roll from there.

Now, a question. Would YOU like to step into your dream by making a commitment to be in action on it now?

If the answer's yes, write your intention in our Facebook Women Howling at the Moon private group. Then report back by 29 August....or, even better, if you're in this part of the world, come and share at our next monthly gathering on 29 August. (BTW, if you're not a member of the Women Howling at the Moon:

a) add your name to the newsletter/updates list on this website of mine

b) go to Facebook Women Howling at the Moon group and ask to join.

Easy!

Warmly and to your Magnificence
Chris

The Map of Meaning: A Guide for Unstoppable Women

June's Unstoppable Women Howling at the Moon

Unstoppable Women Howling at the Moon in June was a rare opportunity to have NZ member of our collective Lani Morris visit and treat us to a complimentary overview of the Map of Meaning - and a chance to experience it.

The Map provides an effective and delightfully human tool for individuals, teams and organisations to assess and to create a greater sense of meaningfulness, fulfillment and balance in the workplace, on an individual and group level; and, by extension, to enhance meaningfulness in people's personal lives as well.

If you're interested in learning more about the Map, visit here (independent review, good value), here (NZ academic site) or here (the book, with free chapter). For info about Lani Morris, visit here (Lani's website and bio).

I suspect that we're largely in agreement that the world needs all the Unstoppable Women we can to be having deeply satisfying and meaningful life - for ourselves and so we can make each make our big contribution to the world! Plus it's more fun.

Our evening learning about the Map clearly supported us in this.
It was powerful, thought-provoking, loving, laughing, connecting and inspiring. Have I left anything out?

BTW, we now have a group of certified practitioners in Australia (includes me), and masterclasses in using the Map in different ways are conducted once or twice a year in Brisbane, with some options also available in Melbourne and Tasmania.

I'll return shortly to add captions, and comments from participants :-)
