Will you grab the dream that picked you?

What's cooking

This weekend six awesome women join me in the foothills of Mt Coot-tha for an Unstoppable Women Two Day Intensive Coaching Retreat. Together we'll courageously, joyously disrupt old, limiting patterns - and, in that clearing we'll hone the skills and distinctions top step into new dimensions and create the extraordinary results they want. Oh, and along the way there'll be hugs, laughing yoga, steaming chickpea and rosemary soup and homemade bread, and an optional walk up Mt Coot-tha.

You rock

Like these women, you too have a big vision.

Whether or not I've met you in person, I know that you are a woman passionate about making a difference in the world by the very fact that you are a member of this community, and that the world badly needs what you have to contribute.

The space of almost

That's why my heart aches when brilliant women almost almost almost stepinto their courage, their potential, their next level of brilliance... only to pull back again and again, put it off a while longer, perhaps forever, believing they're not ready for it, not up for it. Many of the reasons - absolutely valid of course - I've known well, along with those others, hidden deeper, that hold even greater sway - albeit a far more tenuous connection with reality. Along the way, we gradually lose touch with our authentic expression of self.

As women we get on with life and do an excellent job of it, yet, while we might pretend otherwise, it can be a sad, slowly soul-destroying experience when this is how we spend our best years, which is any of the years we have, not living our truth. What's more, we can think we're alone in this. Not so, sister.

The video

That's why I encourage you to do a litmus test on where you are, and perhaps even to reconnect with the life that's waiting for you. Would you be game? It's a 6 minute video from coach Prince Ea:

Everybody dies, but not everybody lives

If you've seen it previously, you might like to watch again with new eyes. The creator asks

"Do you have the courage to grab the dream that picked you?"

Whooo. I know you have the courage - AND the dream. You wouldn't have read this far if you didn't. Be warned though, you may be moved to tears and left with a burning desire to step into your big life.

Once you've viewed it, sit with that for a bit for it to percolate and stay present. Share with someone you trust. Journal your thoughts. Even do one little tiny thing that will reinforce what you dream of, and keep that present in your life. That will help to make it real.

If you're wanting to take it even further than that:

Highlights from On Becoming Real

21/6/2016

Last weekend, an amazing and growing collective of women came together once again to enjoy each others'  company as Women Howling at the Moon deep dived into the territory of becoming REAL, becoming AUTHENTIC and living true to who they really are. It was a vibrant conversation. Wow. For one tiny snippet into the kinds of the breakthroughs and actions that came out of the evening, imagine the difference created by a health educator who is taking on inspiring other health professionals to a new model of care for patients.

Below, a brief summary of areas covered by the conversations.

Becoming Real

Picture

What is that?

  • Letting go of what is not real
  • Speaking up / being authentic / knowing yourself
  • Deciding who you are and being OK with that
  • not having to hide behind bravado
  • Being fearless about being vulnerable
  • Being honest
  • Not getting caught up in drama
  • Feeling at peace - a sense of being grounded
  • Being conscious, present - and feeling aligned with our conscience
  • It's fun

What's in the Way?

In the individual inner domain

  • Negative programming (eg from family of origin)
  • Belief system
  • Social programming (eg from religious)
  • Shame, guilt
  • Negative self chatter
  • Being scared of being seen, having eye contact

Societally

  • Cultural impacts and rules
  • Upbringing - told to conform
  • Oppression - restrictive
  • Gender constraints
  • Legal factors
  • Societal positioning eg financially richer/poorer, and denial of access to power eg comparison between a woman and a white middle aged man
  • Repetitive patterns

In the external world, close to us

  • Not wanting to hurt people
  • Perceiving no way around something, letting go of a hoped for outcome
  • Having responsibilities as the sole breadwinner
  • Having to consider the partnership
  • Factors such as money, tansport, skills
  • Access to help - e.g. computers
  • Health issues
  • Work culture
  • Family culture
  • Sabotage - guilt trip

What's Needed - Personal Agency

  • Identification of triggers to go deeper
  • An event to motivate action
  • Reflection
  • Acknowledgment
  • Choosing the way things are, to devote focus to where change can happen
  • Courage to take a stand
  • Courage to move on
  • Identification of what the real cost is of NOT becoming real
  • Deep acknowledgment that I am enough and I am deeply lovable
  • Finding your tribe.

Next month: Deal with Your Inner Critic!

Next gathering is Wednesday 20 July. The topic: Our Inner Critic, that Itty Bitty Shitty Committee we carry around with us.  Do you have an inner critic you struggle with, that stops you from doing things you would have loved to accomplish, or you know you CAN do? Well at our next event we're going to be Howling about this. Everyone is going to get deep into this topic to identify how they stop us and to gain some tools and techniques to beat it.
