Twitter Training: Get Social Media Savvy series continues

The Get Social Media Savvy series continues until August. Next on the agenda, on Thursday 15 May is: Twitter Training: Brilliant biz strategy!

Picture
In a few short years Twitter has moved from being a dalliance to its current role as a free yet priceless resource for businesses' marketing strategies.

There is a direct correlation between following on Twitter - and gaining clients or making sales. That helps to explain why 77% of top companies are now reported to have a Twitter presence (US figures). In Australia it's estimated that there are around 2.5 million active users.

At May's Women Howling at the Moon, Brisbane's Amanda Hoffman will share her passion for Twitter, how to use it, how to find followers and how to engage them.

Click for this 15 May event: more details, preparatory work and to book.

NOTE: This workshop is for women who are up for being in action. There will be preliminary work for the workshop, so book early and get started at least at least a week before the event.

LinkedIn workshop

April's Women Howling at the Moon event continued the Getting Media Savvy Series - and it was all we could have asked for.

LinkedIn has become do-able, more-ish and even fun thanks to Amanda Hoffman's insights and magic, and her very well structured session and training booklets.

It was voted by all an excellent evening & Amanda has agreed to focus on Twitter next month and then Pinterest in August.

L-R Wendy Rogers (cinematographer), Annie O'Moon-Browning (health practitioner) & Amanda Hoffman (bookkeeper and social media trainer and presenter.

Aaaaah, the moon!

The total eclipse of the moon was, visually and noise-wise, a quiet event in Brisbane, yet sublime. A surprisingly large, quiet crowd stood patiently and reverently waiting at the lookout on Brisbane's highest hill, Mt Coot-tha, waiting for something that in its basic form occurs every day. The haziness of the atmosphere meant that the moon didn't show until quite high in the sky, and then as a pale ethereal globe. We weren't disappointed though, and enjoyed the almost Indian quality to the evening.

View the red moon over Brisbane

Many of you will know that Tuesday 15 April 2014 is both a full moon - AND a total eclipse of the moon. It's the earth's environment that creates the red colour.

For lunar eclipse devotees in Brisbane tomorrow evening... Moonrise is at 5.27 pm (rising almost due east). The total (red) eclipse will already be underway at moonrise. The maximum total eclipse is at 5.48 pm. This total eclipse phase ends at 6.25pm, and the regular eclipse ends at 7.33pm.

If you'd like to join a few of us at a great spot overlooking the city to view the red moon rise, arrive at the Women Howling at the Moon venue (32 Lorward Avenue) at 5pm. We'll travel together to watch from the top of Mt Coot-tha (weather permitting). We'll then return to Women Howling for a 6.30 pm start.

Or if you'd just like to view the moon with great company (and not attend the Women Howling event), meet us at the Mt Coot-tha summit at 5.30pm.

Website savvy yay

PictureSofia Woods (front r) with Women Howling at the Moon.
The March Women Howling at the Moon topic was a lively event that had us engaged in learning and clarifying audience and goals for our sites.

Using Wordpress as the basis, Sofia Woods (founder of Brisbane-based Shortie Designs) pitched her information to the full range of women present - from no website yet through to professionally created... and including service professional through to local community centre.

Along the way we gained great tips for improving improving our written content and SEO rating - and for blogs. Thanks Sofia!
