Celebrating Unstoppable Women

19/1/2016

I am feeling particularly blissed this month for the many moments of pure wholehearted joy that as a coach I get to witness and contribute to as the women I work with spread their wings and express their full potential for themselves and their world. And I get to do the work I'm here for.

What a
gift this is! In small and large ways, every day.

Today, along with talking about the program, I have permission to share a little of the stories of women in Brisbane and environs who have contributed to and grown from the Unstoppable Women program.

Blissing out on my back verandah under the bamboo. How much happiness is one gal willing to have? (Btw the cage behind provides a short term haven for injured flying foxes.)

The beginning of Unstoppable Women

Picture
A little over a year ago I launched my Unstoppable Women initiative, a combination of powerful content and process, individual and group work, real time and online coaching, and community empowerment. This has brought together the best of what I've learned and taught over some thirty five years of education, activism, project management and peace and gender equity work.

The idea: that in a few intense weeks, women would have connected with their own courage
,  built their unstoppability muscle and stepped into a new zone for reliably producing the results they really want for themselves and their world. To know they CAN do anything, when they commit to it. It is about being unstoppable on their terms. It is achieved through a focused curriculum that builds mastery in the seven critical dimensions of being unstoppable, through consistent, supported results-focused action and personal and group coaching to unpack, learn and transform.

Breakthroughs sustained

A quartet of magnificent women joined me for that first program. Each was committed to making a positive contribution in their own way towards a world that works, though not necessarily clear about what that would look like, nor about the capacity to realise their vision. During our time together each woman achieved major breakthroughs.

The effect of programs can be short-lived. The result is that, even when initially inexpensive,, they turn out to be costly and counter-productive in terms of time and dashed hopes for the individual.

These women have each in their own way continued to expand their effectiveness for themselves and beyond in their chosen domains of influence. With their approval, three examples will illustrate.

Elina's author dreams are realised

Captured: that moment when dreams are realised. Author Elina Juusola turns on Skype to be greeted by the first glimpse of her newly published book. And I get to be the messenger, one of the perks of being a courage catalyst to women change makers.

Elina Juusola participated in Unstoppable Women for the structure, momentum and community that would power her through finally realising her long held dream. 'LOVE ON THE LINE: How to Recover from Romance Scams with Dignity and without Victimisation' is now completed and in print. It is a magnificent read. This is some achievement from a woman who had dearly wanted to be a published author for twenty or thirty years, yet who had long ago shelved the idea as impossible for her. The launch is this Friday at Brisbane's Avid Reader Bookstore. We hope you'll join us. (Details further below. Booking essential. Book at Avid Reader)

Pauline brings Active Hope to where it's needed

Picture
University lecturer and activist Pauline Rigby understands that those of us who feel a responsibility for the future, yet who are witnessing the destruction of so much, may experience overwhelming feelings of sadness and helplessness at times.

Pauline has developed and is now running "Active Hope" workshops to assist human beings to replenish and sustain themselves and well as the environment. Conducted under her Mindseeds banner, her work brings practical steps for activists and others to engage with active hope, and to move from despair to empowerment.

Fiona: a bigger stage for her vision and passion

Picture
Fiona Van der Poorten Sawyer laughs that she joined Unstoppable Women and closed her small foreign language teaching business... in order to step into her bigger make-a-difference vision of transforming our nation's relationship to learning and speaking foreign languages.

Fiona has created and is now running the national, aptly named CAN Film Festival - a foreign languages film competition for school communities. This she integrates with her PhD exploration of the effectiveness of foreign language learning apps, and a suite of creative and other enterprises she sustains with aplomb. This year

Unstoppable Women remains an intimate, small group initiative which is now about to head into it's fourth program next month. In every case women's results have been extraordinary, for them and for their communities. To read more about what has been achieved click here. In the lead up to the February program, our group has met over coffee.  We are all inspired and excited for the visions and the games that each woman is up for, and the synergy we are already creating together.

You rock, Unstoppable Women out in the world, all of you, those of you who have worked with me, and those who haven't yet. We are all making a difference in one way or another, including when we decline to do do so! Exciting things happen when women - and men too - approach the contribution they want to make to themselves and the planet with intentionality and the transformational energy of a focused group.

Invitation to the Avid Reader launch of Elina's book

Picture
Join us to celebrate the international launch of Elina's book at Avid Reader, West End, Brisbane, at 6 pm on Friday 22 January.

There is no registration fee, however BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. We're aiming to have a full house and we're well on the way, so book ASAP at via Avid Reader.

LOVE ON THE LINE charts the author's own romance at the hands of an online romance scammer. It is informed by a feminist academic background, it incorporates her own romance novel - and it has a positive outcome! What more could we want!

The event is supported and hosted both by Avid Reader - and by Women Howling at the Moon. In fact this IS our Women Howling at the Moon event for January. The full moon is early Sunday morning - so you can guarantee this will be great evening on every count. Plus you get to bring friends of any gender along.

BTW, if you'd like to join the dinner group afterwards at a local cafe, add your name to the list at http://bit.ly/1P2sXaS. All are welcome.

Like to (re)connect with your unstoppability?

To find out more about your own unstoppability, including some of the main blocks and how to boost your unstoppability, try a 40 minute no-obligation complimentary one-on-one discovery session. You will leave with greater clarity and confidence regarding ideas for making a difference.

Love and thanks

I hope you enjoy this blog post as much as I've enjoyed putting it together! I'm quite chuffed about it ;-)).

Many thanks to all those who read and send your thoughts and updates. It's a treat to receive each one. You're also invited to comment here on the end of you blog if you wished - as one reader did recently. Her post was valuable in reminding us that it's not only women who can fall foul of internet scammers. It behoves us all to be mindful of who we connect with, while continuing to live with a heart open to connnection and love.

I look forward to catching up with many of you this Friday at Avid Reader - and on Tuesday 23 February for  Women Howling at the Moon at Three Bowls Cafe, Highgate Hill.

To your magnificence
Chris
